The following is an electronic Q & A with Reese Hoffa
How has practice been going this year?
My practices have been very good starting in the fall and has continued into the outdoor season.
Are you doing any special training for this Olympic Year?
I would not call what I am doing as special but things have been going well and I look forwards to a consistent outdoor season when it comes to performance.
How many times have you competed at the Jamaica Invitational?
This will be my first time and from what I have heard about the meet it should be a lot of fun and I hope that I can have a great competition to get the fans into the throws.
How would you rate the Jamaica Invitational – the Fans, Track, etc?
Since I have not been to the meet before I cannot rate the meet at this time but I am looking to have a lot of fun.
What are your expectations for this meet and the rest of the year?
For this meet I am looking to be in the 70 foot range, if not a little bit better. As for the rest of the season, I am trying very hard to prepare myself the the Olympic Trials and get on the Olympic Team for the third time in my career.
How many competitions would you want to have before the Olympic Games?
I am looking to keep my schedule light but after the trials assuming I am on the team I am going to do 2 more meets as prep meets for the Olympic Games.
How did you utilize last years’ off-season downtime away from the track?
I usually play a lot of golf or work around my house, my goal for the off-season is to get completely away from track and have fun doing other things. That allows me to come back to track and really want to do it and keeps throwing fresh and fun.
Do you have any passions other than Track and Field?
I love golf, skateboarding, doing the Rubik’s cube, and living an active life.
After this years’ Jamaica Invitational, where will you be competing next?
I will be in Shanghai, China for my first diamond league meeting.
